U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the start of a significant military operation against Iran. According to him, this step is a response to reports from Israel about missile strikes on the Iranian capital, Tehran, as reported by the Kazinform agency. In his eight-minute video address published on the Truth Social platform, Trump emphasized that the goal of the military operation is to protect U.S. citizens.
He also stated that Washington's position remains unchanged: Iran must not possess nuclear weapons. The American leader added that U.S. patience regarding Iran's nuclear program has run out, which is the reason for the start of the military campaign.
In addition to this, Trump announced plans to neutralize Iran's missile capabilities and destroy its missile industry.
In his address, he called on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to lay down their arms, promising protection to those who surrender voluntarily. Trump also warned Iranian security forces of serious consequences if they refuse to cease resistance.
“I am addressing the Iranian police and security forces: lay down your arms immediately, or face inevitable death. To the Iranian people: the hour of your freedom is approaching. Stay home, it is dangerous outside. When we complete the operation, you will be able to govern your own government. This is your only chance to overthrow the regime,” Trump stated.
