A memorandum of understanding has been signed to reduce disruptions in the supply of medicines

On February 27, Health Minister Chimburen Jigjidsuren and Matilda Dimovska, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative, signed a memorandum of understanding, reports MiddlerAsianNews.

According to the Ministry of Health, the signed memorandum will allow for the direct procurement of necessary and expensive medicines for medical institutions through UNDP. These medications, whose supply may face disruptions, will be purchased from a single verified supplier that meets high quality standards and offers reasonable prices.

Chimburen noted that the government of Mongolia and the ministry are actively monitoring issues related to the quality and pricing of medicines. He emphasized that this memorandum is an important step towards implementing a system that will allow for the procurement of quality medications at affordable prices. The minister also expressed gratitude to UNDP for its ongoing support in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and other key areas of the country's development.

According to the terms of the memorandum, medications for the treatment of hemophilia, which were previously at risk of shortage and included in the "List of Diseases and Medicines Subject to State Control," will be procured. These medications are essential for patients with blood clotting disorders for the prevention and treatment of bleeding.

Additionally, the list of medications supplied by a single supplier will also include antiepileptic drugs.
