The event took place on February 26, when a resident of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region named Dili gave birth at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in Hubei Province. As a result of the delivery, one boy and four girls were born after 28 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy, through an emergency cesarean section.
The weight of the newborns ranged from 870 to 1030 grams. More than 20 medical specialists from various fields participated in the operation. Currently, the mother and children are in stable condition, and the infants are in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Doctors noted that the chances of naturally conceiving quintuplets are extremely low — about one case in tens of millions, which made this event a "miracle among miracles."
According to sources, the woman had previously been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome; however, after treatment, she was able to conceive naturally.
