During the discussions, the US delegation, represented by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, demanded that Iran dismantle three key nuclear facilities located in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Additionally, the Americans insist on the removal of all remaining enriched uranium to the United States and require that any agreement be indefinite.
Iran, for its part, rejected these demands, including the removal of uranium, cessation of enrichment, dismantling of nuclear facilities, as well as the establishment of permanent restrictions on its nuclear program.
According to Elyas Hazrati, head of the Iranian government's information council, "there are no plans to export anything from Iran." He emphasized that uranium enrichment will continue based on the country's needs and added that the WSJ information does not reflect the actual state of affairs in the negotiations.
As WSJ points out, more than 20 fighter jets will soon join the American squadrons already in the Middle East. A carrier, eight destroyers, and three US warships have also arrived in the region. President Donald Trump stated that Iran will face "bad consequences" if it does not comply with Washington's demands.
