Japan will assist Mongolian IT companies in their efforts to enter foreign markets

As part of the project "Development of the Information Technology Sector," a meeting was held organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the National Park of Information Technology (NPIT).

At the event, representatives of NPIT led by Zolzayaa Jargalsaihan, as well as Yamamoto Shosei, the deputy project manager, and project advisor Hagihara Natsuki from the consulting company "Deloitte Tomatsu" LLC, spoke.

The project, aimed at developing the information technology sector in Mongolia, was launched in 2026 after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between ICDC, JICA, and NPIT in June 2025, and the project documentation was approved in September of the same year.

According to a JICA study, comprehensive support for the ecosystem is required to achieve sustainable development of Mongolia's IT sector. The project will be implemented over three years and aims to achieve five key objectives:

? Increasing the effectiveness of implementing legislation and policies aimed at supporting the IT sector.

? Strengthening the positions of Mongolian IT companies in foreign markets.

? Developing public-private partnerships and improving coordination.

? Supporting startups through the implementation of national and regional acceleration programs.

? Developing businesses based on open data, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

This project is strategically significant for enhancing the level of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in Mongolia, as well as for achieving tangible results in international cooperation. The project is designed in line with the goal of creating an international benchmark ICT park.
