FSB reported on the smuggling of military engines from Russia to Kazakhstan

Law enforcement officials stopped an attempt to export nine diesel engines with military designation from Russia. According to TASS, the information was provided by the regional FSB office.

According to the investigation, an entrepreneur from the Moscow region purchased these engines through an intermediary in the Kurgan region and intended to send them to Kazakhstan. However, these engines are products subject to export control, and the sender did not obtain the necessary license, providing incorrect information in the declaration.

The smuggled engines were seized at the international checkpoint "Petukhovo." In this regard, the Tyumen customs initiated a criminal case under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of dual-use goods), which may result in a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment.

Last week, the FSB in the Primorsky Krai uncovered a network for smuggling strategically important goods coming from Japan and South Korea, as well as identified evasion of customs duties in a large amount exceeding 1 billion rubles. Two suspects were placed in custody, while two others are under house arrest.
