According to analysts, the outflow of Americans from the country is expected to increase this year. However, it should be noted that official figures may not fully reflect the actual number of people who have left.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reports that in 2025, 675,000 people were deported from the country, while another 2.2 million "self-deported." The WSJ, citing data from 15 countries, claims that at least 180,000 Americans also moved to these states.

The total number of migrants arriving in the U.S. in 2025 is estimated to be between 2.6 and 2.7 million, which is significantly lower than the record of 6 million set in 2023. The strict immigration policy became one of the key initiatives of Donald Trump's administration during his second term.

Among the most popular countries for American emigration are South American and European states. The WSJ reports that the number of Americans moving to EU countries has reached record levels and continues to grow. There is also an increase in the number of applications for renunciation of U.S. citizenship: in 2024, such requests rose by 48%, according to immigration companies.

According to census statistics, the last time the number of people leaving the U.S. exceeded the number entering was in 1935, when the main destination was the Soviet Union, the article states.

The newspaper links the current situation to the policies of the Trump administration, emphasizing that it is related not only to economic factors but also to general dissatisfaction with the quality of life in the country.

A White House representative, commenting on the situation, noted that the U.S. economy is significantly outpacing other developed nations, adding that the Trump administration's policy involved deporting hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and attracting many high-income foreigners willing to pay $1 million for a "golden visa" to settle in the U.S.
