
A serious eruption of a mud volcano occurred in Colombia, in the municipality of San Juan de Uraba, as reported by REN TV, citing the local publication El Tiempo.
“The situation is critical due to the eruption of the volcano in San Juan de Uraba. This information was confirmed by the municipal council responsible for disaster risk management,” the publication states on social media.
The event took place near the municipal water treatment station. Local residents note that deep cracks in the ground and damage to the asphalt surface were observed several kilometers from the epicenter.
In response to the situation, authorities have begun evacuating the local population. Currently, there are no reports of injuries or fatalities as a result of the eruption.
The eruption was caused by the activity of a diapir located near the water treatment station.
