Exhibition of Contemporary Mongolian Art in Atlanta, USA

The exhibition, which includes works from the collection of the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art and the Sapart Contemporary Art Gallery, is taking place at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) in Atlanta.

The exhibition features works by artist Üürintuyaa Dagvasambuu from the "Mongol Zurag" association, including paintings "Behind the Scenes" and "Floating World." These works introduce viewers to contemporary Mongolian art. The exhibition includes traditional scroll paintings and artifacts from Mongolia, Nepal, and Tibet, works by Üürintuyaa, as well as selected pieces from the OUMA Asian art collection, including a new work created specifically for this exhibition.

Üürintuyaa is a recognized master of the Mongolian style "Mongol Zurag." In her works, she harmoniously combines traditional Mongolian and Buddhist elements with contemporary themes, paying special attention to women's lives and everyday life in post-nomadic Mongolia. Her creativity reinterprets traditions, reflecting the current realities of Mongolia in the 21st century.

The artist began her career in 2001 while still studying. Her works are held in the collections of institutions such as the Dallas Museum of Art, the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, the Queensland Art Gallery, and the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.

Üürintuyaa Dagvasambuu (Mongolian: Дагвасамбуугийн Үүрийнтуяа) is a talented Mongolian artist who, as a "contemporary master of Mongol Zurag," incorporates traditional patterns and Buddhist motifs into her works, drawing on the experiences of Mongolian women and everyday life in post-nomadic Mongolia.

She was born in 1979 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In 2002, she received her bachelor's degree from the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture, and in 2004, she completed her studies at the Mongolian State University of Education, earning a master's degree.

The artist is married to Batzorg Mарт, who is also a curator. In 2019, they organized a joint exhibition dedicated to their mutual influence on creativity, titled "Assimilation-Non-assimilation," which took place at Art Space 976+, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
