The incident occurred on February 23 during the match between "Mevlanakapi Guzelhisar" and "Istanbul Yurdum Spor" in the First Amateur League of Istanbul. In the 22nd minute, the goalkeeper of "Istanbul Yurdum Spor," Muhammet Uyanik, cleared the ball from the penalty area, and it hit a passing seagull.

According to Uyanik, he initially did not realize what had happened. "I got closer and saw that it was a seagull. I felt terrible, was in complete shock - after all, it’s a living creature," he shared his emotions.

The team captain, Gani Chatanu, had the thought of helping, and he immediately began to perform CPR on the bird. "The seagull was lying on its back and wasn’t breathing," he noted.

According to him, the resuscitation efforts, which lasted about two minutes, were successful: "Its legs and eyes started to move, it came to a bit, and we offered it water." Gani also added that he had never taken first aid courses.

After providing assistance, the bird was handed over to medical personnel. The seagull is currently under observation, although it cannot fly yet.

Despite the fact that the match ended in defeat for "Istanbul Yurdum Spor," and the team lost its chances for the championship, the players expressed that saving the bird's life was more important to them than the outcome of the game.
