On his page on the social network Truth Social, Trump stated that the court's decision, in his opinion, actually expands his powers. He emphasized that he can now use tools such as trade licenses to increase pressure on other countries.

The president added that he does not need congressional approval to impose tariffs, referring to the fact that the necessary powers were granted to him earlier and confirmed by a recent court ruling.

Additionally, Trump warned of the possibility of increased tariffs for those countries that attempt to take advantage of the Supreme Court's findings regarding the illegality of previously established restrictions.

Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump administration did not have the authority to impose import tariffs, stating that according to the Constitution, this right belongs to Congress.

Trump called this decision a "shame," adding that he has a backup plan and intends to maintain tariffs related to national security. In addition, he announced the introduction of basic tariffs of 10% for all countries, which were then raised to 15%.

These new measures will take effect on February 25 and will last for 150 days.
