Work at the Skytree tower in Tokyo suspended after elevator accident

An incident occurred at the famous Tokyo Skytree tower, which forced its operations to be suspended. On the evening of February 22, two out of four elevators unexpectedly stopped, resulting in 20 people being trapped in one of them at a height of about 30 meters for nearly six hours. The managing company reported that the rescue operation took about 5.5 hours, but no one was injured.

Additionally, the incident complicated access to the observation deck at a height of 350 meters for approximately 1,200 visitors, who waited for the elevators to resume operation for about three hours.

The operating company announced that the tower would be closed on February 23 for a technical inspection. Those who purchased tickets in advance will be promised a refund.
