Trump gave Iran 10-15 days for an agreement on the nuclear program
This statement comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the region and the approach of a second American aircraft carrier to the Middle East.
In response to threats, Iran conducted joint military exercises with Russia, which experts believe signals a readiness for a possible military response in the event of failed negotiations.
Recent indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Iran have not yielded tangible results, and analysts suggest that both sides may be dragging out the process in anticipation of military actions.
Tehran also claims that it has not been enriching uranium since the attacks by the U.S. and Israel last summer and insists that discussions should focus solely on the nuclear program.
At the same time, Iranian authorities assure that they do not wish to escalate the conflict. "In a situation where tensions are rising, all military bases and assets of opposing forces in the region may be considered legitimate targets for Iran's defensive actions," stated Iran's ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani.
Trump's tough comments have already led to an increase in oil prices and heightened concerns about a possible large-scale conflict in the region.
