According to emergency services, a UAZ-452 minibus, driven by O.B., was traveling from the Kankh somon to the Renchinlkhumbé somon with seven passengers on board. In the Khachim area, located in the Dalai-Zakh region, the vehicle crashed into a crack in the ice and fell into the lake.
The incident site is located approximately 170 kilometers north of the center of Renchinlkhumbé somon, 70 kilometers from the village of Khatgal, and 62 kilometers east of Renchinlkhumbé. Emergency services received the report of the incident at 20:16.
As a result of the incident, one adult and one child died, while five passengers were able to escape.
Authorities have once again strongly urged citizens to avoid traveling on the ice of lakes for the sake of saving time or shortening routes, emphasizing that cracks can form suddenly and pose a serious threat.
