The President of Ukraine noted that Kyiv had proposed to organize the production of missiles both on its territory and in cooperation with NATO partners, including Romania and Poland.
In his video address on February 17, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine had already initiated talks with the USA about the need to create sufficient missile production in Europe, especially for Patriot systems. However, despite promises, a decision on licenses has not yet been made.
He also expressed the opinion on the importance of developing European missile production for air defense, pointing out that European countries have the capacity to provide the necessary volumes, although current production rates remain insufficient.
Additionally, Zelensky added that such decisions could significantly enhance the defense capabilities of all of Europe.
Against the backdrop of ongoing Russian attacks, Kyiv once again emphasized the need to accelerate the supply of weapons, primarily missiles for Patriot systems. At the Munich Security Conference, the Ukrainian leader once again called on Western allies to increase assistance for the protection of Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure during the winter period.
