The "Kazhydromet" warns of impending blizzards, fog, and strong winds, reports Orda.kz.
On February 16, a storm warning has been issued for Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and 16 regions of the country. Snow, rain, blizzards, fog, ice, and winds with speeds reaching 15–20 meters per second are expected.
In the capital, Astana, rain and snow, low-level blizzards, and ice are forecasted during the day. Wind gusts may reach 15–20 m/s.
In Almaty, fog and ice are expected during the night and morning hours.
Shymkent will also not be left out: rain will occur during the day, and the wind will strengthen to 15–20 m/s.
The North Kazakhstan region will face blizzards and snow at night, while precipitation and ice are expected during the day. In Petropavlovsk, meteorologists also anticipate precipitation and gusty winds.
In the Akmolinsk region, snowfalls and low-level blizzards are predicted at night, while precipitation and ice will persist during the day. In Kokshetau, rain and winds up to 15–20 m/s are also expected.
In the northern part of the Kostanay region, heavy snow is possible at night, while precipitation will continue during the day. The region is also forecasted to experience fog and gusty winds.
The Karaganda region may encounter light precipitation during the day, with localized fog and ice. In Karaganda, ice is also expected in the afternoon.
In the Pavlodar region, rain and snow, low-level blizzards, and ice are forecasted during the day.
The West Kazakhstan region is expecting precipitation, blizzards, and fog. In Uralsk, the wind will also strengthen to 15–20 m/s.
The Aktobe region will face snow and blizzards at night, with localized fog. The wind will also be strong, reaching 15–18 m/s.
In the Atyrau region, fog and ice are expected, and in Atyrau, ice is also possible at night and in the morning.
In the northern part of the Mangistau region, ice and fog are predicted at night. In Aktau, the wind will strengthen to 15–20 m/s during the day.
The Zhambyl region is also prone to ice and occasional fog, while in Taraz, the wind will strengthen to 15–20 m/s.
In the Turkestan region, rain is possible in the mountains at night, while precipitation is expected during the day in several areas, including heavy rain in the mountains, and thunderstorms may occur in the south.
In the Abai region, fog is also forecasted at night and in the morning.
Fog is expected in the East Kazakhstan region, especially in the morning. Ust-Kamenogorsk will also receive a fog warning.
In the Ulytau region, precipitation, rain, snow, and ice are expected during the day.
The Kyzylorda region will face ice and fog at night and in the morning.
It was previously reported that temperatures across the country are gradually rising. According to "Kazhydromet," a cyclone moving from west to east is bringing precipitation. In Astana, daytime temperatures are expected to range from -1 to +1 °C, in Almaty from +8 to +10 °C, and in Shymkent up to +15...+17 °C. Despite the warming, meteorologists warn of strong winds, fog, and ice.
