According to information from "Ukrainska Pravda," Halushchenko was removed from a train. The source notes that border guards received a request from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) to monitor his movement across the border.

NABU confirmed the fact of the detention: "Today, during an attempt to cross the border, NABU detectives detained the former Minister of Energy as part of the investigation into the 'Midas' case," the bureau's press service reports.

Herman Halushchenko took office as Minister of Energy in April 2021, and in July 2025 he was transferred to the position of Minister of Justice. After his resignation, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine was headed by Svitlana Grinchuk. In November 2025, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed both ministers in light of a corruption scandal involving Ukrainian "Energoatom" and businessman Timur Mindich. Searches were also conducted at Halushchenko's premises as part of the "Midas" operation related to this case.
