The NATO Secretary General noted that the role of the USA in supplying arms to Ukraine is crucial. This year, Kyiv will receive both lethal and non-lethal means, including interceptor missiles. In an interview with PBS, Rutte emphasized that the volume of supplies amounts to one billion euros per month.
Funding for American supplies is provided by European countries through the NATO PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism, which was initiated in July 2025 by the decision of US President Donald Trump and Mark Rutte. The first batches of military equipment under the PURL program arrived in Ukraine on September 18, including missiles for Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. In December, the Netherlands allocated $290 million for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine.
