
Gold medal in figure skating for Kazakhstan
21-year-old Shaidorov became a true sensation, scoring 291.58 points (92.94 in the short program and 198.64 in the free skate) and securing Kazakhstan's first medal at these Games.Mikhail Shaidorov is the Olympic champion of 2026.
The silver medalist was Japanese figure skater Yuma Kagiyama with a score of 280.06 (103.07 + 176.99), while the bronze medal was won by his compatriot Shun Sato, who scored 274.90 (88.70 + 186.20). Russian athlete Pyotr Gumenik finished in sixth place (271.21), while American Ilya Malinin, considered one of the favorites, finished only eighth (264.49) due to a mishap in the free skate.
Mikhail trains under the guidance of Olympic champion Alexei Urmanov, who won in 1994, and already has a silver medal from the World Championships.
Klebo sets records
Norwegian skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo became the owner of his eighth Olympic gold medal, winning the 10 km classic race with a lead of 4.9 seconds over Frenchman Mathis DeLoz. The bronze went to another Norwegian, Einar Hædegaard, who finished 9.1 seconds behind.Thus, Klæbo matched the record for the most gold medals at the Winter Olympics, previously set by his compatriots Bjørn Dæhlie, Marit Bjørgen, and Ole Einar Bjørndalen.
The athlete noted that the individual start race was one of the most challenging for him, as he had to wait for the results of his competitors after finishing.
Gold for Fillion Maillet and successes of Australians
In biathlon, Frenchman Quentin Fillion Maillet won the 10 km sprint, finishing with a time of 22 minutes 53.1 seconds and completing the race without any misses. This is his seventh Olympic medal and second gold at the current Games, allowing him to equal Marten Fourcade in the number of awards and become the most decorated French athlete in the history of the Winter Olympics.The silver medal was won by Norwegian Vetle Sjastad Christiansen (13.7 seconds behind), while the bronze went to Sturla Holm Lægreid.
In women's snowboard cross, 23-year-old Australian Josie Baff took the top step of the podium. The second place went to Czech Eva Adamčíková, and the third to Italian Michela Moioli, marking the second gold for the Australian team at these Games.
In the men's halfpipe, Japanese Yuto Totsuka won with a score of 95 points, followed by Australian Scotty James (93.5) in second place, and Japanese Ryusei Yamade (92) in third.
Other results of the day
In speed skating, Czech Methody Jilek won gold in the 10,000 meters with a time of 12 minutes 33.43 seconds. The silver medalist was Polish Vladimir Semiruniy, who previously competed for Russia, and the bronze was won by Dutchman Jorrit Bergsma.In skeleton, gold went to British Matt Weston, who recorded a total time of 3 minutes 43.33 seconds. Silver went to German Axel Jungk, and bronze to his compatriot Christopher Grotheer.
Hockey events
In the hockey tournament, the Finnish team defeated Sweden with a final score of 4:1, redeeming themselves after the first match. Slovakia also managed to win against Italy (3:2), almost securing their place in the quarterfinals.Additionally, the Czech Republic won against France, and in the women's tournament, the Czech team faced Sweden. The Canadians defeated Switzerland with a score of 5:1.
