? Explore the beauty of Mongolia's Blue Pearl at the Ice Festival!

The Ice Festival "Blue Pearl," which was first organized in 2000 to protect Lake Khuvsgul and develop winter tourism, has become the most significant ice celebration in Mongolia since 2001. This year, the event is scheduled for March 2-3 and will offer participants unforgettable winter adventures.

In recent years, interest in the festival has significantly increased. It is expected that in 2024, around 50,000 people from both Mongolia and other countries will attend — a fivefold increase compared to previous years.

? Khuvsgul: The Pearl of Winter Tourism in Mongolia

Lake Khuvsgul, located in Khuvsgul Aimag, is the deepest lake in Mongolia and attracts tourists year-round. In 2024, the government decided to declare this region a tourism development zone, considering its growing popularity. Here, visitors can enjoy stunning natural landscapes and meet the indigenous people known as the Tsaatan, who are famous for their reindeer.

? Reindeer are listed as a vulnerable species in the IUCN Red List, and their population in Mongolia is about 2,400 individuals.

In conclusion… The presence of reindeer, along with the magnificent nature of the lake and vibrant festival events, makes Khuvsgul a unique place both culturally and ecologically. This region has significant potential for further development of winter tourism in Mongolia.
