46 new cable cars will appear in the mountains of Almaty

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, presented new initiatives for the development of tourist infrastructure in the mountains of Almaty. The publication Kursiv LifeStyle reports on the upcoming changes for tourists.

According to the head of government, work has begun in the Almaty mountain cluster to improve existing facilities and prepare for the construction of new ones. The focus is on the Almaty Superski ski resort, located on Kok-Zhailau.

Currently, there are 17 cable cars operating in this region, with a total length of 54 kilometers. After the expansion is completed, an additional 46 cable cars are planned to be added, which will span 221 kilometers. Construction work is expected to start in the spring of 2026.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the tourism sector, noting that basic safety requirements and sanitary standards are still not being met.
