The head of the Russian diplomatic agency noted that at the summit in Anchorage, the US proposed a solution, and Russia was ready to accept it. However, according to Lavrov, the American side is now showing no willingness to do so. He made this statement in an interview with the international network TV BRICS. Lavrov also emphasized that Russia was open to full and mutually beneficial cooperation with the US. Nevertheless, as he pointed out, instead, new sanctions are being imposed on Russia, and its tankers are being detained in international waters, which, in his opinion, violates the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. The minister added that the United States is trying to limit the opportunities of India and other countries to acquire affordable Russian energy resources, while Europe has long been prohibited from doing so and is forced to buy American liquefied gas at inflated prices. "The Americans are striving for dominance on the economic front," Lavrov is convinced. The first round of security negotiations involving Russia, the US, and Ukraine took place on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation was headed by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, while the Ukrainian delegation was represented by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. According to TASS, it will take at least a month and a half to agree on a peace agreement regarding Ukraine.
