According to information provided by DW, Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison.

The human rights activist was detained on December 12, 2025, during memorial services for lawyer Khosrow Alikordi, and on February 2, 2026, she declared a hunger strike. On February 8, she was sentenced: six years for "conspiracy and participation in gatherings aimed at committing crimes" and 1.5 years for propaganda. After her release from prison, she will be banned from leaving the country for two years and will have to live for two years in the city of Khusf.

According to lawyer Mostafa Nili, three days ago Mohammadi was transferred to the hospital due to deteriorating health, but she was later returned to prison. The lawyer hopes that considering the activist's health condition, she will be temporarily released on bail for treatment.

Narges Mohammadi holds the position of vice president of the Center for Human Rights Defenders in Iran. Over the past 20 years, she has been arrested for her protests against the regime and for her journalistic activities. In total, the human rights activist has been detained 13 times, and excluding the new sentence, her total prison term amounts to 31 years, of which she has already served ten.

For example, in 2021, she was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison and 80 lashes for "anti-state propaganda." In December 2024, Mohammadi was temporarily released due to health issues, and her release was subsequently extended.

According to her supporters, during her imprisonment, she suffered several heart attacks and only in 2022 did she undergo emergency surgery. At the end of 2024, her lawyer reported that she had been found to have a bone growth, which was later removed.
