The laboratory notes that region 4366 has set a new record for the number of strong flares on the Sun. According to updates from the NOAA catalog, this active center, observed from Earth, recorded three M-class flares, bringing its total number of active events to 66.
Previously, the record belonged to region 3664, which produced 64 M-class flares and above and caused the largest geomagnetic storm in the last 20 years.
