On Saturday, February 7, a tragedy occurred at the international crafts fair in Faridabad, India: the "Top Spin" attraction, which had 26 people on it, collapsed, claiming the life of a police inspector. According to The Hindu, 13 people sustained injuries of varying severity.

The incident happened around 6:00 PM when the structure of the ride unexpectedly detached from its mountings during rotation and fell to the ground, causing panic among visitors who tried to shelter from the falling parts.

The attraction, also known as "Tsunami," creates the effect of a giant wave, swinging passengers while simultaneously spinning them. Witnesses claim that one end of the structure suddenly broke off, leading to the tragedy. Among the injured were both women and children.

The deceased inspector, Jagdish Prasad, was responsible for safety at the fair. He sustained a serious head injury when the second part of the structure fell on him while he was attempting to assist the injured. Doctors pronounced him dead at the hospital.

In response to the incident, the authorities of Haryana state initiated an investigation. The police opened a criminal case against the owner of the attraction. Despite officials' claims of conducting daily technical inspections, experts will need to determine the cause of the mechanical failure.
