The White House Plans First Meeting of Donald Trump's "Peace Council" on February 19
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, which was renamed the Donald Trump Peace Institute in December.
As Axios points out, the goal of the meeting is to advance the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, as well as to raise funds for the reconstruction of the region.
Initially, the "Peace Council" was created to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip as part of Trump's peace plan. However, it later became known that the president views this body as a means to resolve conflicts in various parts of the world.
According to the charter of the "Peace Council," Donald Trump is its permanent chairman and can leave this position only at his own discretion. Leaders of other countries can be invited to the council solely at the initiative of the U.S. president.
According to Axios, many influential European countries have refused to participate in the "Peace Council." Invitations from Trump have been accepted by Israel, Hungary, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and several other states.
