The controlled explosion conducted for the dismantling of the bridge resulted in a spectacular collapse of the structure, which was over 500 meters long, 204 meters wide, and about 80 meters high. Local residents dubbed this object the "lying Eiffel Tower" of Brandenburg due to its resemblance to the famous Paris landmark.

This bridge was a special transport mechanism connecting two banks of the planned canal. Over its 45 years of operation, it managed to move approximately 3.5 billion cubic meters of soil.

The reason for the dismantling was economic factors, as the further use of the bridge turned out to be unprofitable.
