Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine's energy system: nuclear power plants are unloaded, millions without electricity

The strikes were aimed at key substations and overhead lines with voltages of 750 kV and 330 kV, which are the backbone of Ukraine's energy network. The Burshtyn and Dobrotvorsk thermal power plants were also affected.

As a result of the strike, nuclear power plants were forced to unload their power units. Emergency shutdown schedules have been implemented across Ukraine, operating in 4.5–5 queues. Special schedules for outages have been established in the eastern and northern regions.

The company "Ukrenergo," the operator of the energy system, has requested emergency assistance from Poland. Energy workers are ready to begin restoration work after the security situation improves, noted Shmyhal.

At the time of writing this article, the attack is still ongoing.
