A new round of trilateral negotiations involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the USA has begun in Abu Dhabi, as reported by Rustem Umerov, head of the Ukrainian delegation.
According to him, the negotiation process will take place in several stages: first, work in separate groups on various issues, and then a joint synchronization of the positions reached.
This information was also confirmed by a source from the Russian state agency TASS.
“The negotiations have already started, with various formats and tracks planned. However, the work will proceed without the participation of the press,” the agency's interlocutor added.
The Russian delegation is led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. The USA is represented by special envoy of Donald Trump, Stephen Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the US President, Jared Kushner. Ukraine is represented at the negotiations by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, as well as the head of the President's Office, Kirill Budanov.
The first round of negotiations took place in Abu Dhabi in a closed format on January 23-24. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in Congress on January 28 that the only unresolved issue in preparing the peace plan remains territorial. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the issue of territories can only be discussed on the condition of a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.
