In Japan, 30 people died due to winter storms

Since the beginning of the winter storms on January 20, more than 100 people have been injured in incidents related to snowfall. In the city of Aomori, Japan's Self-Defense Forces were deployed to clear snow that reached nearly two meters in height. Meanwhile, about 1,000 snowplows are working to clear 2,300 miles of roads in Sapporo.

Last week, heavy snowfall led to a temporary suspension of operations at Hokkaido Airport and the closure of several highways. Train services also experienced delays.

Additionally, on January 28, The Guardian reported over 40 fatalities in the U.S. due to a major winter storm that affected more than a dozen states suffering from the cold.
