Trump noted that the "truce" lasted from Sunday, January 25, to Sunday, February 1, after which Russia resumed active actions against Ukraine. The U.S. President emphasized: "He [Putin] kept his word in this regard. It was significant, one week – we were ready to agree to any term, as the weather was extremely cold."
Additionally, Trump added that he had a conversation with Putin, but did not specify either the time or the details of the discussion.
On January 29, Trump reported that he personally appealed to Vladimir Putin with a request to temporarily cease attacks on Ukraine due to the severe cold. According to him, the Russian leader agreed to his proposal. Later, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, clarified that Trump suggested suspending the bombings of Kyiv until February 1 to create conditions for peace negotiations.
Yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a large-scale nighttime attack targeting Ukrainian military-industrial complex and energy infrastructure facilities. The agency noted that this attack was a response to Kyiv's strikes on civilian facilities in Russia.
