The main goal of the visit is to promote international cooperation in combating land degradation, droughts, and desertification. During the events, Yasmin Fouad plans to discuss with high-ranking representatives of Mongolia, ambassadors, development partners, scientists, private sector representatives, civil society, as well as youth and children, relevant issues related to combating desertification. These discussions will aim to engage all stakeholders in the process and seek opportunities to expand cooperation in this area.
Yasmin Fouad was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the UNCCD on May 22, 2025. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2025, she served as the Minister of Environment in Egypt.
