This draft law has been submitted for consideration by the State Duma, reports RIA Novosti.
In the explanatory note to the project, it is stated that it is proposed to prohibit entry not only for foreigners with unexpunged or unresolved criminal records but also for those who have already expunged their criminal records if they are related to serious or particularly serious crimes.
Currently, restrictions on entry for foreign citizens with criminal records are in effect on a temporary basis, which is the subject of the proposed changes.
As noted in the document, such measures are aimed at protecting the rights of citizens of the Russian Federation and preventing crimes by foreign individuals, as well as reducing the level of offenses among foreigners and stateless persons.
