The night of January 31 became the coldest in Moscow since the beginning of winter

Over the course of a day, the snow cover decreased by 1 cm, reaching 60 cm, which set a new record for the last day of January. Previously, in 1994, this figure was 59 cm.

Last week, Moscow experienced heavy snowfall for three days, resulting in 21 mm of precipitation, which is 40% of the monthly norm. Due to the sharp drop in temperatures, an orange level of weather danger has been declared in Moscow and the region. According to forecasts from the Hydrometeorological Center, today the temperature in Moscow will be –12…–14°C, while in the Moscow region, frosts of up to –17°C are possible.
