Zelensky responded to the Kremlin's invitation to come to Moscow: I invite Putin to Kyiv
In response to a question about a meeting in Moscow, Zelensky stated: “A meeting with Putin in Moscow is impossible, just as it is in Kyiv. I can invite him to Kyiv; let him come if he decides to.”
He also added that he is open to any formats of meetings at the leader level if it leads to the end of the conflict.
However, he emphasized that meetings in Moscow or Belarus are “simply impossible,” explaining that one of these states is the aggressor that unleashed the war, while the other is its ally in these actions.
Earlier, in the fall of 2025, Putin had suggested that Zelensky come to Moscow. At that time, the Ukrainian president also refused, noting that Putin could visit Kyiv himself.
Additionally, on January 23-24, 2026, after trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov once again proposed this meeting.
Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly emphasized Belarus's readiness to serve as a venue for negotiations between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
