Recently, the U.S. Census Bureau released the Vintage 2025 demographic data, which shows a significant slowdown in population growth related to international migration. From July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, net international migration (NIM) was 1.3 million people, a sharp decline from 2.7 million in the previous year.

Forecasts suggest that by July 2026, NIM could drop to 321 thousand people. If the current trend continues, this could lead to the number of people leaving the U.S. exceeding the number of those arriving for the first time in half a century.

Additionally, the bureau noted that from July 1, 2024, to July 1, 2025, the population growth was only 1.8 million people, significantly lower than the 3.2 million recorded in the previous period. This represents the lowest population growth rate since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since his inauguration in January 2025, President Donald Trump has advocated for stricter immigration policies. Last week, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem reported that approximately 3 million illegal migrants left the country during the first year of the administration. Of these, 2.2 million left voluntarily, while more than 675 thousand were forcibly deported, as she stated in her post on social media platform X.
