The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan has reassured citizens, stating that the Nipah virus does not pose a threat to the country. According to the agency, there are no natural foci of the virus in Tajikistan, as it is only spread among certain tropical bats that are not found within the territory of the republic.

It is also noted that the winter period significantly reduces the likelihood of transmission of the virus from animals to humans. The ministry added that recent cases of infection in India, where over 1 billion people live and which is far from Tajikistan, do not pose a threat to the republic.

Currently, the Ministry of Health sees no need to implement additional safety measures, as sanitary and epidemiological controls are already in place at the borders. Food products, including juices, are subject to inspections by the relevant authorities.

It is worth mentioning that a local outbreak of the Nipah virus has been recorded in India. This virus is typical for tropical regions, and in January 2026, an outbreak of infection caused by this virus occurred in the Indian state of West Bengal, near Kolkata.
