
Among the deceased are victims of various incidents related to the storm: these include traffic accidents, cases of hypothermia, as well as accidents involving snow removal equipment. In particular, the bodies of at least six people were found, but the circumstances of their deaths have not yet been disclosed.
One of the most tragic cases was the crash of a business jet in the state of Maine, where seven people died. The plane crashed during takeoff in snowy storm conditions, and the only survivor was a crew member who was hospitalized with serious injuries. The causes of the disaster remain unknown.
Snowfalls that began on January 23 continued throughout the weekend, creating snowdrifts up to 30 centimeters high. Additional difficulties were caused by Arctic frosts and ice, which led to damage to power lines and left more than a million homes and businesses without electricity.
