The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced a significant discovery on the shelf of the Atlantic Ocean near the mouth of the Niger River. This information was posted in a press release on the company's official website.
“In collaboration with project operator Chevron Nigeria, NNPC has completed drilling the exploratory well Awodi-07, located in the shallow waters of the western Niger Delta. The results have been promising, revealing substantial hydrocarbon content in several layers,” the press release states.
The work was conducted in the Gulf of Guinea, where the water level is 12 meters. The well was drilled to a depth of 3.7 kilometers, and several oil-bearing layers were discovered with a total thickness of about 205 meters.
In the coming days, the company's specialists will prepare assessment data on the oil reserves at this new field.
