According to a report by the National Statistical Office (NSO) published on Sunday, the number of criminal cases in Mongolia increased by almost 7 percent in 2025, as reported by MiddleAsianNews.

According to NSO data, the total number of registered criminal cases from January to December amounted to 47,480, which is 6.3 percent higher than the same figure from the previous year.

The increase in crime was attributed to a 43.2 percent rise in cases related to road safety and transportation activities, as well as a 1.6 percent increase in property crimes and a 5 percent rise in crimes against life and health, as stated in the report.

In the first eight months of 2025, approximately 23,000 violations related to driving under the influence were registered, with 2,097 crimes committed in this state, exceeding the figures from previous periods. Of these, 2,000 cases involved drivers without licenses, while 19,000 involved those who drove under the influence with valid driver's licenses.

According to NSO information, in 2025, the number of victims of various crimes totaled 43,800 people, among whom nearly 18 percent were women and children.
