On Sunday, the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia reported that about 90% of the country's territory is covered in snow, with snow depth reaching up to 45 cm.
According to the meteorological agency's information, at least nine out of Mongolia's 21 aimags are experiencing severe winter weather known as "dzud".
Additionally, the report states that 16 aimags are in conditions close to dzud.
The term "dzud" in Mongolia refers to harsh winter conditions when a significant number of livestock die from freezing or due to snow cover.
The country is known for its harsh continental climate, characterized by long, frosty winters and short summer periods.
