Snowstorm Affects 200 Million Residents in the U.S.

A severe snowstorm sweeping across the United States has impacted 200 million residents, according to information from ABC News.

The National Weather Service reports that snowfall has affected vast areas from New Mexico to New England on the East Coast. In some places, snow accumulation reached nearly 40 cm.

According to data from PowerOutage monitoring services, over 900,000 households are without electricity. As a result of the adverse weather conditions, at least seven deaths have been reported, including two cases of hypothermia in Louisiana. Snowfalls have significantly hindered travel across the country, leading to the cancellation of more than 15,000 flights over the past weekend; in some regions, ferry services have also been suspended.

A state of emergency has been declared in 23 states. U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that emergency services are prepared for the upcoming record cold and heavy snowfall.
