According to Foro Penal, 80 political prisoners were released on this day, which was the result of pressure from the United States. The head of the organization, Alfredo Romero, noted that human rights defenders are working to establish the identities of all those released. Currently, these are the last prisoners who have been released since the United States began to challenge the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. On Friday, Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that the total number of released prisoners exceeds 600; however, Foro Penal points out that this figure is inflated.
Among those who were released, the identities of several opposition representatives and five citizens of Spain have already been confirmed.
