The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, Dashpurev Buriad, held a meeting with the Director of the Korean-Mongolian Office of the U.S. Department of State, Michael Flores, and representatives of the U.S. embassy. At the initial stage of the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of Memoranda of Understanding regarding cooperation in the field of mineral resources and labor relations. Dashpurev Buriad proposed to form a joint working group to develop a specific action plan for the implementation of these agreements.
The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in areas such as legal reforms, investments, technology in geological exploration, local self-governance and public approval, as well as capacity building in the management of the mining industry and safety standards.
U.S. representatives emphasized their readiness to continue providing technical and advisory assistance on aligning Mongolia's legislation with international standards in the mining sector.

Legal reform: Attracting technical assistance from the U.S. Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) to eliminate duplication and redundancy in legislation as part of the reforms of the legislation on minerals, oil, and nuclear energy being conducted by the Mongolian government;
Investments and technology: Attracting investments for the implementation of advanced American technologies and methods in the fields of geology, exploration, mineral resource assessment, and the development of high-yield sectors;
Local relations and governance: Utilizing U.S. best practices and technical support to enhance public recognition of the sector through promoting mining policy at the local community level and improving citizen awareness;
Capacity building: Continuing training and practical programs for mining industry specialists, focused on advanced methods, occupational safety standards, and safety techniques from the U.S.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in monitoring compliance with legislation and improving the legal environment in the mining sector to make the partnership more effective and create a mechanism for regular dialogue.
