The Mongolian rock band THE HU, known for their innovations, has once again captured listeners' attention with the release of their new single "The Real You" on January 23, available through the Better Noise Music label. This is reported by MiddleAsianNews.
In their latest work, the musicians emphasize Western musical influences, creating a powerful and atmospheric sound accompanied by an energetic rhythm and expressive, even threatening vocals.
The track represents a new evolution of their unique "hunnu-rock" style, which combines traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing with modern rock elements, elevating their creativity to a new level.
The production of "The Real You" was handled by Dashka (Dashdondog Bayarmagnai), while mixing was done by Chris Lord-Alge, a five-time Grammy Award winner. The song is available on all digital platforms, and the music video can be seen below.
"This single is a precursor to our new album," shares Temka (throat singer and tovshuur player) from THE HU. "While our third album will feature traditional compositions with our characteristic rhythms, there aren't many dynamic and fast tracks like this one. We wrote it thinking of our ancestors who galloped swiftly on horseback across beautiful landscapes. Listen and let this music awaken your emotions and feel the energy we want to convey to you. Enjoy!"
In "The Real You," listeners are urged to focus on themselves, avoiding judgment of others, which will help them become better.
The lyrics of the song are based on a famous Mongolian proverb: "Өөрийн толгой дээрх бухлыг харахгүй байж Өрөөлийн толгой дээрх өвсийг харах," which translates to "Don't worry about what is on someone else's head, worry only about what you lack." "The Real You" is performed in Mongolian, but its content and emotional depth are conveyed through powerful words such as: "Will you continue to slander, manipulate, threaten, and insult? / Can one continue to endure, fear, and hide?"
The band THE HU passionately presents Mongolian music on the international stage. In November 2022, they became the first rock musicians to receive the UNESCO "Artist for Peace" award in Paris, receiving it from UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. Previous recipients of this award include artists such as Celine Dion and Herbie Hancock. With over 961 million streams and 483 million video views, as well as chart-topping albums, the band has solidified its status as a global phenomenon.
This summer, on July 11, THE HU will perform at an IRON MAIDEN concert in Knebworth Park, UK, and will also participate in Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson's American tour "Freaks On Parade," which kicks off on August 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
