A meeting took place between the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Serik Jumangarin, and his Mongolian counterpart, Gankhuyag Khassuur.

Jumangarin congratulated Khassuur on his new appointment, noting the significance of Mongolia as a key partner in the region. He emphasized that cooperation between the countries is built on the principles of trust and mutual respect, and that trade and economic relations are the foundation of this partnership, as reported by MiddleAsianNews citing Kazakhstani media.

The participants of the meeting noted that the presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia have set a goal to increase the volume of bilateral trade to $500 million in the medium term. Both ministers expressed confidence in achieving this goal through expanding the range of supplies, implementing joint projects, and removing trade and administrative barriers.

Kazakhstan plans to send a trade mission to Mongolia to establish direct business contacts, showcase its industrial potential, free economic zones, and export opportunities.

Agriculture was highlighted as one of the key areas for cooperation, where issues related to increasing the export of Kazakh agricultural products, supplying veterinary vaccines, and the possibility of localizing them in Mongolia were discussed.

From January to November 2025, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $121.5 million, which is 5.5% more compared to the previous period. Of this amount, exports from Kazakhstan totaled $113 million, while imports from Mongolia were $8.6 million.

The main export goods from Kazakhstan to Mongolia include tobacco products, rapeseed, bread, flour, confectionery, food products, oilseeds, as well as engines and machinery products.

From Mongolia, Kazakhstan imports meat and meat products, cashmere, footwear, carpets, and wool products.

Khassuur noted the strategic importance of Kazakhstan as a regional partner for Mongolia. He expressed hope for the activation of bilateral cooperation this year and proposed to create a joint working group to identify and eliminate non-tariff barriers.

The Mongolian side also confirmed its interest in deepening cooperation in the field of veterinary protection, standardization, and animal husbandry.

As a result of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further developing mutually beneficial and constructive cooperation.
