Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found broken glass. Instead of a robber, they encountered a deer that was trying to escape, jumping over tables and bumping into obstacles.
The police were able to carefully lead the deer out of the bank. Five officers participated in the operation.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina noted, according to The New York Post, that "the deer was not charged and remains at large to possibly pull off a similar stunt in another bank next time."
