During his visit, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov got acquainted with the process of mechanized cleaning of the main canals, which was conducted for the first time in 40 years by the local branch of RGP "Kazvodkhoz." The cleaning affected the K-21 and K-34 canals, and work is also ongoing on the K-25 canal.

The K-21 canal, one of the most significant in the region, irrigates 20,000 hectares of land located in three rural districts. Using special equipment, the entire section of 22.8 kilometers was cleaned, marking the first such work in over four decades.

On the K-34 canal, which is 18.5 kilometers long, it was planned to clean 7.5 kilometers in its lower part, where problems with water supply were observed during the growing season. The cleaning was successfully completed.

The K-25 canal, with a length of 28.2 kilometers, supplies water to 13,000 hectares of agricultural land in three districts of the Zhetisay region. Currently, mechanized cleaning of a 10-kilometer section is underway using five units of equipment, and 4 kilometers have been cleaned so far.

“The ministry has made significant strides in updating the equipment for the branches of ‘Kazvodkhoz,’ supplying about 600 units of modern equipment. This has created the necessary conditions for the quality execution of all planned activities. The canal cleaning work must be completed before the start of the growing season to provide farmers with the required volume of water,” noted Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.

Local residents expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, as well as the Turkestan branch of RGP "Kazvodkhoz" for the work carried out.

“Last year, due to siltation and vegetation, there were difficulties with water supply along the K-34 canal. Now, after the cleaning, it is fully ready for use. We hope that this season farmers will not face any problems. Until now, due to a lack of equipment, such large-scale work had not been carried out,” said a resident of the Temirzhol village in the Zhetisay district, Sakhtilla Temiraliyev.
