Ukraine on the Brink of Humanitarian Catastrophe Due to Destroyed Energy System, - Head of DTEK
Heating point in Kyiv
// State Emergency Service of Ukraine
According to Tymchenko, there is an urgent need in Ukraine to cease hostilities in the energy sector and protect energy facilities. He mentioned that residents receive electricity for only 3-4 hours a day, followed by a long break of 10-15 hours, which also leads to numerous heating problems in apartment buildings that have been without heat for several weeks.
The General Director also reported that DTEK has lost 60-70% of its generating capacity and incurred losses amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars. According to his estimates, restoring the energy infrastructure will require investments of 65-70 billion dollars and, in some cases, will necessitate the creation of entirely new assets.
Tymchenko emphasized that this is not just about restoration, but about the need to form a new energy system in Ukraine.
