On board Air Force One, during the return to the U.S. after a meeting with world leaders in Davos, Donald Trump told reporters: "We have an armada, a huge fleet, moving in that direction just in case. Maybe we won't have to use it. We'll see."

As noted by Reuters, the U.S. president hinted again at the possibility of military action against Iran, pointing to the brutal suppression of protests in the country by the authorities.

Trump expressed hope that military force against Tehran would not be necessary, adding: "We are watching Iran. I would prefer that nothing happens, but we are watching them very closely."

Additionally, according to anonymous U.S. officials, the aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" will be deployed to the Middle East, accompanied by several guided-missile destroyers. One source told the agency about plans to deploy additional air defense systems in the region to protect U.S. bases from potential attacks by Iran.
